Access to Life - Haiti

Access to Life was a collaboration between The Global Fund against AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis and Magnum Photos. In Haiti, I set out to chronicle the situation of four HIV-infected patients who were just starting anti-retroviral medications. I returned four months later to see how the treatment had gone.

I left a polaroid camera with each of the families, which they used to take a portrait of their sick relative every day between my visits. In some cases the recovery was quick and remarkable. In others, the treatment had come too late.

Access to Life resulted in a book, a website, and an exhibition that travelled to over 10 countries, and was used actively by the Global Fund to raise funds.
